Man lost righteousness (right standing) with God in the Garden of Eden through disobedience. The dictionary describes righteousness as the sense, state or manner of being morally right, genuine and justified. In simple words, we lost our place in God, and since, HE is the RIGHTEOUS and FAITHFUL ONE (Rev 19:11), we became unrighteous and unfaithful. God in HIS everlasting mercies brought a way to redeem man back to HIM through HIS Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, so HE may make sons here on earth.
Righteousness, we now receive by Faith (Rom 1:17, 3:22). This Faith means believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This righteousness is that of God, not of man by works (Rom 4:6, Tit 3:5). Hence, we are as righteous as God, HIMSELF (although not as holy as HE is). We are now at right standing with God, morally justified and genuine before our CREATOR and FATHER, also before all creature (all created things) and powers.
This implies that we should stop seeing ourselves as perpetual sinners but as righteous ones who may make mistakes. Our mistakes are being taken care of by our ADVOCATE in Heaven with the FATHER (1John 2:1) as long as we come with a humble and repentant heart for forgiveness. Believe it, it is by Faith (Rom 1:17, Gal 3:11, Heb 10:38).
If then we righteous, we should act and live it out (like sons of our TRUE FATHER). Stop living a life of sin and flesh because we are righteous and we are of the righteousness of GOD, that worship God in Spirit and Truth. "Righteousness is our heritage"ť. The breast-plate of righteousness is an essential component of the armor of Christ (Eph 6:10-17). It is accompanying the helmet of salvation. It is worn on the chest to protect the heart (one of the most vital organs of the body) because the heart harbors the thoughts of man which determines who he is (Prov 23:7), the words that flows out of the mouth (Luke 6:35) and final justification (Mat 12:37).
The Scepter of God´s Kingdom is Righteousness (Heb 1:8). This implies that we should not compromise the standards of the Kingdom of God. Let us keep our watch. Let us stand upright everywhere we are, everywhere we go and everything we do. In acts, conducts, thoughts and speech, let´s uphold righteousness. Righteousness is what separates us from the world. Sincerely, it actually starts form the heart, i.e., our thoughts.
This righteousness is of God, not of man by works. Our righteousness (man´s righteousness) is by works and it is like filthy rags before HIM (Is 64:6) but God´s Righteousness is imputed in us by Faith. Let´s pray and keep watch with all diligence because the breast-plate of righteousness protects the heart. May God continue to teach and lead us in HIS ways. Amen.
