I wonder what that person was actually thinking...frm NLTvs 36,apostle paul was actually saying if a man thinks he z treatin his fiancee improperly and he is tempted to give in to passion,he shld as well marry her so as nt to sin.vs 37,bt if he doesn't want to marry and he is also nt tempted then he shldnt marry at all(that is apostle paul's own opinion ).in both verses I don't see any place it was stated that premarital sex is okay.so the person nids to ask the holyspirit to open his eyes of understanding so as nt to mis interpret the bible and further imbibe the wrong ideas to pple. ...

Neriah has simply explained it. That passage in no way encourages pre-marital sex (check 1Cor 7:9). The 'Message Bible' makes it clearer - '1Cor 7:36 - If a man has a woman friend to whom he is loyal but never intended to marry, having decided to serve God as a 'single', and then changes his mind, deciding he should marry her, he should go ahead and marry. It is no sin; it is not even a 'step down' from celibacy, as some say. On the other hand, if a man is comfortable in his decision for a single life in service to God and it is entirely his own conviction and not imposed on him by others, he ought to stick with it. Marriage is spiritual and morally right and not inferior to singleness in any way, although as I indicated earlier, because of the times we live in, I do have pastoral reasons for encouraging singleness.'

@peter I think in this case, pre-marital sex will be best termed 'fornication' (1Cor 6:13, 18, 7:2). ...
